Who We Are
Mission: To empower our young people to thrive in our community and beyond, through STEM-related learning experiences and career exploration.
Newton’s Road is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to STEM-related learning for all youth in the 5 county region.
Our Vision: With STEM jobs expanding at an accelerated pace, there is high demand for skilled graduates. Newton’s Road advocates for STEM learning and educates our community on the importance of critical thinking skills and broadening the pathways to STEM careers. We work to reach underserved populations in our region, emphasizing that all children should have the opportunity to learn skills that will lead them to productive, good-paying careers. We believe that success can be fueled by developing STEM-based skills.

What We Do
At Newton’s Road, our work revolves around three main strategies to inspire and engage our youth in achieving our regional goal to be a healthy and vibrant tech ecosystem: STEM Resources and Events, Career Investigator for Northwest Michigan, and Community Outreach.
Newton’s Road provides a regional hub of high quality STEM resources and events for students, parents, educators, employers, and mentors through our website. Check out the following tools to connect on our Find STEM Activities page: STEM Finder, STEM Map, STEM At Home, STEM Kits and Event Calendar.
With the support of employers, local colleges and workforce agencies, Newton’s Road developed the Career Investigator for Northwest Michigan for free use by teens and their mentors. This platform connects youth to high-demand career information (including trades), local educational pathways, and employers who hire these careers.
We directly engage with community service organizations and find creative ways to layer STEM resources into their currently successful youth programs. Some organizations start with a focus on growing awareness for their staff and families with our newsletter and STEM hub resources. Others implement STEM Kits and our Career Investigator.
