Who We Are

Mission: To provide stable, affordable housing and supportive services to individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.

Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing (NMSH) is a nonprofit organization based in the northwest region of Michigan that focuses on providing affordable housing and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. NMSH was founded with the goal of addressing the housing crisis in the region and helping vulnerable populations achieve housing stability.

The organization began by recognizing the critical need for supportive housing in northwest Michigan, a region with a diverse population but limited resources for individuals facing homelessness or unstable living conditions. The founders aimed to create a service-oriented organization that could not only provide a roof over people’s heads but also offer the support needed to help them maintain stable housing and improve their overall well-being.

What We Do

Since its inception, Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing has expanded its services and programs to meet the growing needs of the community. NMSH provides a variety of housing solutions, including permanent supportive housing, emergency housing, and transitional housing programs. These programs are designed to offer not only a place to live but also access to essential services such as case management, mental health support, job training, financial literacy education, and other resources that help individuals regain their independence.

The organization partners with local agencies, government programs, and other community-based organizations to maximize its impact, ensuring that individuals and families have the comprehensive support they need to successfully transition to stable housing.
