Who We Are

Mission: To inspire an environmentally conscious culture in Northern Michigan and beyond by educating people on the long-term value of recycling and making recycling and green choices simple and accessible to individuals and organizations across the region.

Bay Area Recycling for Charities (BARC) is a nonprofit organization based in the Bay Area of Michigan, founded with the goal of promoting environmental sustainability through recycling while benefiting local charities. The organization was established to address the growing need for more environmentally responsible waste management practices, especially in the context of reducing landfill waste, recycling, and supporting charitable causes.

The organization began with a simple but impactful goal: to make recycling easier for individuals and businesses while providing a way for people to contribute to their community. Today, Bay Area Recycling for Charities continues to be a leader in recycling initiatives in the region, promoting a cleaner environment and supporting community-based nonprofits through its recycling programs. Through its work, BARC has become an important part of the region’s sustainability efforts and a valuable resource for local charities.

What We Do

Since its inception, BARC has focused on expanding its services, making recycling more accessible to the community, and increasing the amount of materials recycled in the Bay Area. The organization serves both individuals and businesses, providing convenient drop-off locations and pick-up services for recyclables. BARC’s model combines environmental responsibility with community support, offering a tangible way for residents and businesses to give back to local causes through their recycling efforts.

Over the years, BARC has built strong partnerships with schools, businesses, and local organizations to promote sustainability and raise awareness about the importance of recycling. Its efforts have helped to keep tons of recyclable materials out of landfills, reduce the environmental impact of waste, and support a variety of charitable organizations in the Bay Area.
