Who We Are

Mission: To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Central United Methodist Church’s Outreach Program serves Traverse City by addressing the needs of the homeless and economically challenged. Our doors are open to everyone, regardless of religious affiliation, providing essential services, support, and a welcoming environment for those in need.

What We Do

  • Community Outreach: Our Fellowship Hall operates five days a week offering hot breakfasts, showers, access to phones, mail services, and a safe, warm space. Our Outreach Director provides guidance on housing access, assistance programs, and transportation needs.
  • Community Meal: Central hosts a hot meal every Thursday from Noon to 1 PM, joining a network of local churches providing daily meals to those in need. Volunteers prepare, serve, and clean up each week.
  • Safe Harbor Shelter: In partnership with over 20 area churches, Central participates in the Safe Harbor program, offering temporary shelter, meals, and fellowship during the cold months. Volunteers and planning committee members ensure the program’s success.

We welcome donations and volunteers to support our mission of serving the community. Immediate needs include warmers, toiletries, and snack items. Join us in making a difference!
