Troop Leader/Co plan meetings based on girls interest and will support girls through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to earn badges, the Product Sales Program and Council leader events and activities. Troop Leader/Co to hold and execute meetings, events, and activities, in addition to manage money and provide up to date opportunities to girls within the program. Criminal background checks must be completed for all volunteers prior to participation in any activities with Girl Scouts. Volunteer: Open Call: Volunteers for New Children's/Veteran Dental ClinicThere is a new dental training facility opening in Traverse City called United We Smile, serving people with developmental and cognitive impairments, pregnant women, children, and veterans! This innovative healthcare delivery model uses dental interns from U of M School of Dentistry to provide free dental services while local dentists (credentialed as Adjunct Faculty under UMSOD) oversee the students doing the procedures. United Way staff and dental assisting interns from NMC DA School will provide auxiliary support. In addition to patients being seen in the new 8 chair dental clinic, patients can attend a variety of onsite United Way support groups, parenting classes, certifications, hearing and vision screenings, etc.
Mondays-Thursdays will be free for children, pregnant women, and those with special needs, targeting families 212% poverty and under.
Fridays will be free for veterans, targeting folks 300% poverty and under (continuing our Victors for Veterans program entering its 11th year!!!). This is an open call for volunteers looking to help with: Roving around and helping in the Children's Clinic Roving around helping in the Veteran's Clinic Sterilization help Chairside Dental Assisting help Dentists overseeing U of M dental students (would become faculty at U of M and get some benefits from them) Answering phones Confirming appointments Sitting with siblings so parent can talk to staff/watch kids in the waiting room Flipping rooms between patients Hearing and vision screeners Rooming patients Ideally, we would love someone with availability to volunteer the same set schedule every week, such as every Monday from 9-1, or whatever it may be, but please don't let that stop you from applying if you are interested, we can work around your schedule!If interested, contact Jen Kerns at jen@unitedwaynwmi.org Agency: United Way of Northwest Michigan There is a new dental training facility opening in Traverse City called United We Smile, serving people with developmental and cognitive impairments, pregnant women, children, and veterans!
