Who We Are
Mission: To produce and present professional dance in Northern Michigan, promoting collaboration among artists and actively engaging with the community.
The Traverse City Dance Project (TCDP) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2012 that is dedicated to advancing the art of dance through innovative performances, community engagement, and educational programming. Based in Traverse City, Michigan, TCDP serves as both a performance company and a creative hub for dancers, choreographers, and artists in the region. We work to promote dance as an accessible and transformative art form, enriching the cultural landscape of Traverse City and the broader northern Michigan area. We strive to turn the creative process inside-out by hosting workshops, open rehearsals, and innovative performances.
What We Do
Traverse City Dance Project is known for its collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to dance, blending elements of contemporary dance with other art forms, including music, visual art, and theater. Since our founding, we’ve engaged professional dancers, choreographers, musicians, and composers from around the country to participate in our summer series of performances and programs for communities throughout Northern Michigan.
We aim to bring high-quality, innovative dance performances to the community while fostering artistic growth and cultural development. In working towards our mission, we support & amplify the voice of a diverse array of dance artists, for the enrichment and betterment of the communities we serve. We are committed to expanding our reach to underserved arts audiences and ensuring our programs are accessible and affordable to all.
